About the Director
Steven Cord is the Director of the Center for Land Value Taxation.
He has advised 23 localities to tax land assessments rather than
building assessments, with uniform good results. In other words,
he has had hands-on experience with land value taxation, and this
kind of experience is essential to successfully implementing this
different tax approach.
He was born in New York City in 1928 and has a doctorate from
Columbia University. He is married for fifty-two years to Edith
Mayer Cord and has three children and seven grandchildren.
He spent nearly 25 years teaching current history and economics
at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Indiana, PA. (near Pittsburgh).
He is now professor-emeritus. After he retired from teaching, he
became the president of two small urban-research foundations (nonprofit).
He has published four books and many articles in academic journals.
He has won four awards - two for research and two for activism.
He is currently the editor of two newsletters. He has been actively
engaged in land value tax affairs for 55 years. |
