Make a Real Difference
Taxes on human-produced things raise prices and
reduce incomes. Income
taxes make up approximately 40% of all U.S. taxes and may be the
best of all the taxes on human-produced things, but they also discourage
the production of wealth, thereby creating poverty.
Don't tax jobs (or tax things produced by jobs, which
has the same economic effect).
Our tax system creates poverty, and then we spend
billions subsidizing poverty in order to get rid of it.
If that isn’t perverse, what is?
But are taxes on human-produced things really
necessary? No, because
there is another source of government revenue that can abolish the
root cause of poverty while simultaneously providing the government
with the revenue it needs.
Shouldn’t we have Equal Access to the Resources of Nature
(E.A.R.N.) and isn’t land necessary for that access?
Shouldn’t that access be equal for all?
Practicality requires the private ownership of
land, but then let us collect the annual rent of land in taxation
instead of taxing human- produced things (note that land isn’t human-produced).
By tax- burdening the production of wealth, non-land-value
taxes actually create poverty!
Such taxes are passed on to consumers in the
form of higher prices that poor people have to pay.
They make it more expensive to be poor.
Subsidizing poverty with government programs or private charity
is not a good way to lessen poverty.
But once we fund those programs with E.A.R.N.
(via land-assessment taxation) we will get at the root cause of
poverty. And then,
consider terrorism - E.A.R.N. would create the economic opportunities
that could be a viable alternative to blind terrorism. We
will never end terrorism unless the terror-breeding societies end
the hopeless grinding poverty from which it springs.
A land-assessment tax has other benefits too
numerous to be mentioned here.
But for now, just imagine a society without taxes on human
production but with full government services! If in such a society, every land-site were used efficiently, wouldn't
poverty and terrorism disappear? Are you helping to make
that possible, or are your charitable donations fruitlessly subsidizing
the poverty and policies that breed terrorism?

But now for a downside: the movement for land
value taxation is stalled for lack of funds.
It is threatened with extinction.
This website is funded with the veritable shoestring.
The Center for a Better Economy, which sponsors it, needs
your financial help and guidance.
Many effective programs desperately need to be
funded to bring this basic reform to the attention of the general
public and their public officials.
Will you help us do this?
Trying to combat poverty and terrorism without
removing their root cause is like trying to drain the ocean with
a teacup. But the approach
advocated in this website needs advice, and frankly, funds.
In particular,
what is needed right now is adequate funding for an advertising
campaign that can bring this proposal to the attention of the public
and its political officials. They shouldn't be kept in the
dark about land value taxation any longer.
Poverty and the
fear of unemployment is at the root of all social problems.
There is nothing more basic than their eradication, yet it
can be accomplished only by private landownership coupled with equal
access to the earth - to God’s gift to us all.
Be effective. Make your donations count. Let us hear
from you..
Help
us really end (not merely subsidize) poverty.
